Life is a giftDuring my quiet time, I always come to think of a very grateful chance in my life - living and experiencing life on earth and not to treat the world as my permanent habitat.
I’m quite sure that majority of people are not yet contented in their own self. This is evident on the daily news in radio and T.V. which includes stories of suicide, celebrities’ annulment, etc. It only proves that many are still imprisoned in the suffocating world of melancholy.
“What is life’s worth on earth?” This question always surfaces whenever I try to look for happiness. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to find the answer.
If I were to talk to God personaly, I will ask him that question. Befere, when I am alone, I always whisper that question to myself and hopes that He [God] will respond. In relation to this this, I remembered the story of Teri Flanagan of Fort Worth:
It was in 1995 when she went through a devastating period of solitude in her life: she had a divorce and her children left her and moved to a far place to study.
Teri did nothing everyday except to wait for the sun to set. During each day, she mopped around and felt sorry for herself; letting the days slip by in a haze of unhappiness.
It was until one afternoon, she went outside from the back door and walked straight into the yard when she suddenly heard a man’s shouting “Life is a gift!”
The words sounded so mysterious to her because no one was there except herself. She tried to think that it was just a crazy thought and will eventually pass away in the morning. But it is different. On her work the following day, a colleague showed her a calendar with the “thought for the day.” The calendar reads: “The secret of contentment is the realization that life is a gift, not a right.”
It was so weird, encountering the same thing she heard yesterday. Is it a coincidence? Maybe, yes. But it surely changed her life completely. She treated life as a gift and accepted her fate that way; that she is alone and shall live with herself.
Currently, she’s living her life to the fullest. She is now contented and happy with her life.
I believe that she experienced divine intervention from God. Sometimes - and most likely unexpected - God reaches out and interferes us through some person, material or even a weird situation. Undergoing difficulties and uncertainty is common - for it is life. Thrills in life creates challenges for us that makes us a lilttle less complete. Let His powerful hands manifest in you and rule your whole life.
Now, my question is answered.
