Forgiveness is letting go of the bitter thoughts and resentment we have in our hearts. It may be hard to let go but the sheer compensation it gives us is more than we really need. Anger keeps us in a status of avoidance, prevention and deception. It happens when our expectations are not met. Because of this, we avoid certain objects or persons hoping for a more peaceful mood; we prevent ourselves to look vulnerable; and we hide ourselves from our real us, making our forgiveness cost like gold.
But these feelings – it may keep the pride is us – takes away our happiness on which our “enemy” may never notice and just continue with their life. Isn’t’ it stupid to be angry and live life in reverse elation when we can be be the opposite if we just say the simple words of forgiveness?
From the words of Mahatma Gandhi,
“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong”
Only strong people can forgive. No one wanted to be branded as weak, and weak people never forgive. Actually, giving forgiveness does not require force, just a simple act of generosity. Treat it as a gift you can give to everyone. The best part? It’s free and comes in handsome amounts.
By this time, some people may be thinking that some do not deserve their forgiveness. This is the misconception that leads people unhappy. Do it not for others but for yourself! Again, from the words of Mahatma Gandhi:
“Forgiveness is choosing to love. It is the first skill of self-giving love.”
You may be wondering how can it make us happy? It is simple, forgiveness fosters relationships, reconciles enemies, resolves conflicts and most of all, promotes love to each other. It makes the world live in unity, peace. Does that make sense?
“Forgiveness is a funny thing. It warms the heart and cools the sting”
